Co-Sleeping Is Proven To Be The Best

Posted on June 09, 2016   |   Comments

Are you one of " those moms" who co-sleep with your little ones?

Why are some people so against that? Well if you are one of "those moms" that people talk bad about, studies show that infants should sleep on their mother's chest for at least the first few weeks of life. They even suggest that a child co-sleep with mom until they are at least 3 years old! I think my husband will be okay for maybe the first year but there is no way he will allow a toddler sleeping with us every night. I am not sure I agree with that either because you have a relationship that needs TLC as well.

If you are not over weight, don't smoke, don't do drugs, and have a safe sleeping arrangement, it is safer for your baby to sleep in bed with you. SIDS mostly occurs when the house is not a smoke-free household, there are large blankets or pillows around the baby, and less likely does mom roll over baby although it is possible.

Babies who slept with mom showed fewer signs of stress on their hearts then babies who slept alone. REM sleep was also less likely reached in infants who slept alone compared to babies who co-slept with mom and better sleep. REM sleep if very important for babies, it is the time when brain stimulation and brain development occurs most.

So to the people out there who talk bad about "those mom's" we are doing what is best for our baby. To the mom's out there that co-sleep with their children, keep up the good work!
