Getting Your Baby To Sleep Through The Night

Posted on June 27, 2016   |   Comments

If you like most parents, then you probably have trouble getting your baby to sleep through the night or at least through most of the night.

Here are a few tips that might work for you:

1. If your baby is breastfed, then give him or her baby formula for the last bottle before you go to bed. Your baby should stay fuller longer.

2. If your baby is old enough, add cereal to the bottle. 4 months is the age my doctor suggested.

3. Keep your baby up as long as possible before the bedtime. I usually keep my 4-month-old up about 2 1/2 to 3 hours right before bedtime.

4. Make sure the temperature in the room is comfortable for the baby... not too cold, not too warm. If you cannot control the temperature, dress the baby accordingly.

5. Use an air purifier to provide a soft constant noise. It will drown out any noises that you may make that will scare the baby and awaken him or her.

6. Use a night light. It helped my daughters. I guess they get scared if they wake up and it's completely dark. If they can at least see their surroundings, it makes them feel more comfortable about going back to sleep without waking all the way up.

One of these methods is likely to work with your child. If none of them work then, be creative, and think, "What would make me comfortable enough to sleep through the night?"

Remember, your baby will have many of the same habits you do, so it's possible that what makes you comfortable will work for your baby.
